found gsp abandoned nursed back to health

My husband was mushroom hunting in Missouri and found a dog starving to death, covered in ticks, lying in woods. He picked up and carried to truck and brought home. We posted local ads, no one claimed. We feed and love him and play with him, he is beautiful now and healthy, still a little skinny but happy. He is very good with my 8 month old, 2 year old and 6 year old. We have had only 3 months and he is kindest dog I have ever seen. He is younger between 1 and 2 yrs. I do not know anything about this breed and want to make him as happy as he has made us. Just need advise on how to care for him. Vet says he is GSP and a nice one, we love him purebred or not. Thanks
